Organic Formula for Preserving Our Environment
Our Organic Baby Formula
Perrigo Nutritionals is dedicated not only to quality and protecting children and families, but to protecting the world we live in.
And the way we do this is by continually reaffirming our commitment to ecologically responsible manufacturing processes, allowing us to nurture the development of children with safe infant formula while being ever diligent to minimize our impact on the land we all call home.
From our state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant to our use of the latest in recycling practices, Perrigo Nutritionals is continually working to grow its capacity to serve parents and families while lessening its environmental impacts wherever and whenever possible.
Our infant formula manufacturing facilities are ISO 9001:2008 certified and adhere to FDA guidelines and the quality assurance regulations of the International Organization for Standardization. The factory is approved by Quality Assurance International (QAI) to manufacture organic baby formula that is compliant with USDA organic regulation.
For more than 20 years, we’ve been serving world markets while protecting the earth, sending the highest quality infant formula around the globe while being vigilant about minimizing the impact our operations have on the environment.
Steps Toward a Greener Future
Even as we grow to serve more retailers of all sizes, we continue to work toward a cleaner, greener planet for all through a variety of initiatives including:
Wastewater Treatment Plant
- This state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly baby formula plant treats approximately 100,000 gallons of wastewater each day and boasts an organic and nutrient removal efficiency of approximately 99.5 percent.
- The water we discharge into nearby Lake Arrowhead has a very high quality effluent which has proven to be as clean, if not cleaner, than the natural lake water.
- Waste bacterial sludge generated from the treatment process is dried and used as a highly effective organic fertilizer
We also employ a robust and environmentally friendly solid waste program, including collecting and recycling cardboard, metal cans, glass, paper and magazines in addition to:
- Used motor oil
- Treated wastewater biosolids
- Waste vegetable oils
- Fluorescent bulbs
- Machinery parts
- Mercury wastes
